ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dr. Delena King
I wrote The African American ABC Book to emphasize my history and heritage.
My desire is to captivate children's attention and begin their learning journey with a firm foundation.
The book is a modern day picture book with an African American focus. I worked to ensure the colorful illustrations showcased diversity and a positive representation of black and brown children and their culture. I want The African American ABC Book to be a learning and engaging tool for everyone!
As you turn the pages of The African American ABC Book, a picture will accompany each alphabet to promote memory, reading readiness, and observational skills. As an educator, my desire is to encourage parents, guardians, educators—and little readers—to explore the letters of the alphabet in a whole new way.
I am a native of Vicksburg, Mississippi and consider faith and family my greatest priorities. I attended Jackson State University in Jackson, MS, Webster University in St. Louis, MO and Argosy University in Phoenix, AZ.
As I continue to write, I am so excited and humbled for you to receive, read, and grow from my writings:
